Military conflicts shouldn't become the symbol of the 21st century, but, unfortunately, the fighting goes on even as we speak, President Peter Pellegrini stated after an event commemorating the end of the WW1, held in Bratislava's Petrzalka cemetery on Sunday.
"We should call on the international community from this place to do everything in our power to prevent the 21st century from becoming a symbol of deadly conflicts," stated the President, adding that WW1 left both the European continent and other parts of the world in ruins.
As for the war in Ukraine, the head of state believes that it's necessary to bring back peace talks. Ensuring peace in Ukraine and elsewhere is the most important and greatest mission faced by world leaders today.
The world commemorates the end of WW1 on Monday, November 11.
