President Peter Pellegrini met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Monday in Baku during the UN Climate Change Summit (COP 29) to discuss bilateral relations, economic opportunities, energy supplies and defence strategies. They discussed the possibility of natural gas flowing to Slovakia through Ukraine starting January 1. Pellegrini talked about the growing Slovak presence in Azerbaijan's ICT sector and announced plans to open an IT showroom in Baku. They also discussed joint ventures in the defence sector and Slovakia’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions, including nuclear waste research. Pellegrini stressed the need for global cooperation on climate issues.
