Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) spoke on the phone with the President-elect of the United States of America Donald Trump. The Prime Minister congratulated him on his victory in the elections. A significant part of their telephone conversation was an assessment of the war conflict in Ukraine.
“I am convinced that not only in Slovakia, but also in the whole of Europe, there are huge expectations connected with his person on the issue of the war conflict in Ukraine,” Fico said.
According to the Slovak Government Office, Trump was interested in Fico’s views as prime minister of a country directly neighbouring Ukraine. “I have very openly reiterated to him all the attitudes that I publicly present in this regard,” the prime minister said.
