On the 1st of May 2004, 10 countries joined the European Union, among them was Cyprus. The people of Cyprus, unlike those of other countries, decided to join the Union not for economic but for rather security reasons, says Ambassador of Cyprus to Slovakia Michael Karagiorgis.
